With some of the newer HTML5 API’s it is now possible to redesign how your web pages interact with the desktop. Web pages are too often little islands that fail to interact well with the wider user interface of our devices. This talk will explain the new Drag/Drop and File APIs, demonstrating how to make web pages more equal in the world of applications.

Browsers today are fully equipped with HTML5, CSS fanciness, tons of JavaScript APIs and laser cannons. So once you've visited a web site, who's to say you need to be continually making web requests for that web site / web app / word du jour, anymore. The browser can manage web requests without a connection. It can manage storing several megs of data without a connect. If can manage to challenge your SQL mad skillz without a connection. It can even manage to navigate the BACK BUTTON - of all things - without a connection. This talk will go through these new fancy pants technologies and share a few tips for making your app/site/doberry work without the web.
